Simple Home - Wedding Ideas

Michael and I attended our nieces wedding in Santa Barbara, CA. last July. Needless to say it was a beautiful wedding and quite the family affair. Bob Ledner played flute, Michael officiated and every other family member had a part to make Tanya's day the best. One thing I really liked that she did was to take special care and thoughtfulness with guest seating. Seating matters and this is the way Tanya assigned our seating. It was very fun to go outside and find our placement cards clipped to beautiful ribbon.

Thinking About Cupcakes and Gardens

Besides thinking about cupcakes my heart's wrapped around Garden Guy. He's hammering and measuring and buzzing away - building boxed gardens for our family. Remember this and then this? Now it's this! :-) I love my guy.

When a woman gets quiet enough (hint, hint) her man can get vision for the impossible. Our yard is a crazy design. But after Michael saw the Home Grown Revolution U- Tube, he got so inspired and vision was birthed.

Our Arizona dirt is difficult to work, so he's building Garden Girl Tv's garden boxes and is starting with this area and creating beauty from there.
While digging in the dirt, Candace found a worm - the grandkiddo's favorit new toy. It's amazing how much creative playtime kids can have with dirt and worms.
. . . until I hear Zane say, "Ivana, stop kissing the worm."

How To Eat A Cupcake

OK C . . it's true - I can't get out of my head the look of my five grandkiddos the day we bought Got Cupcakes.

There's just something cute about cupcakes and in case you're wondering - there IS a way to eat them - or at least over at the how to eat a cupcake blog. And of course there are great cupcake holders so you can them eat year round.

These look amazing (so sorry, I can't find where I got them), but I'm still crazy about Barefoot Contessa's Coconut Cupcakes here.

But, did you hear? Cupcakes take the cake! And, if you visit Emma Roses (chocholate cupcakes above) you'll get inspired! Inspire us - send in your favorite cupcake picture and recipe!

The Simple Home - Grandkids and Cupcakes

If you read the Lylah Blog, you know that I heart cupcakes. I've got five grandkiddos and next week, when all are back here on the Ledner homefront - we'll be making these cupcakes. The other day I found this cute designer cupcake wrapping paper. Today, I found another mom who hearts cupcakes. She found the above cupcake holder and when you go to Not Martha's blog, you'll find a whole lot more on cupcakes.

Need Help - Want "Green" Cleaner for Hard Wood Floors

Michael and I did this great remodel a year ago and I've used the standard toxic cleaner on our new hard wood floors. I've been getting organized in the kitchen, with my linens and different closets. Because my philosophy is The Simple Home (new wordpress blog coming) I've also been creating sanctuary and going green and I'd HEART some advice on going green with cleaning the hard wood floors.

Thanks for sharing what works for you!

Building Bridges to Somalie Hearts

Wednesday is my discipleship time with Lori, Maria and Andi. We skipped our coffee talk time and took a trip to Somalie Land (the place I call where my Somalie women friends live). Andi actually is also a experienced bridge builder and has a heart for Somalie women too.

This is Degha's baby boy. He has the sweetest, peaceful spirit. Isn't that hair fabulous!
Maria and Lori holding Zahara's new baby girl. She's not even a week old. Sweet sleep.
Somalie women are so hospitable - Degha served us tea.

The Simple Home - Bread - Power of the Table

God likes bread. He says He's the Bread of Life, so there must be something significant about the power at the table where there is bread.

I did a study on this table and bread thing and found that God gave specific instructions about the table in the Torah- Exodus 25:23-30 and here in Numbers 4:7, 1 Kings 7:48; 2 Chronicles 13:11, 29:18 And, check this out in Psalm 23:5.

I love this in 1 Kings 7:13 – 51. It's all about the temple furnishings but verse 48 is signficant - a gold table for the Bread of the Presence. When I read about the details and all the "rooms" in the Temple of the Lord, and then I come to this passage, I get the picture that it’s as if God wanted the table prepared, in the dining room, for Himself as the Bread of the Presence.

In the New Testament or the Injeel - these verses have great significance too - John 12:2,
John 13:4, 22,28, 1 Corinthians 10:21, Hebrews 9:2

In light of beautiful tables and bread, of which there's nothing like the smell of bread baking in the oven, I started finding mom bloggers who are baking some bread. I found out Monica made French bread after being very inspired by Missy Chase Lapine's new book The Sneaky Chef and my good friend Stephanie made some yummy looking sourdough.

Continuing my search for bread making mama bloggers, I have to tell you that Tammy's Italian garlic looks wonderful. Pioneer Girl Ree goes for a sweet bread - bread pudding and Thursday's are Daring Young Mom's bread making day and the one she uses is Speckled Brown Bread from her runner friend at H.I.P who got it from The Bread Baker's Apprentice.

Crystal's homemade wheat bread looks perfectly easy for beginners and speaking of wheat, Victoria emailed Money Saving Mom Crystal:

My father farms in Arkansas and my father-in-law farms in Utah. Wheat crops have been horrible this year. Therefore, flour and wheat is expected to triple by May. My father-in-law called today and advised us to stock up within the next few weeks before the wheat goes on the market and jumps. We are planning read the rest here.

Lindsay is passionate about homemaking and shares her bread recipe along with some helpful tips on making healthy bread. Amy's got Mom Advice on bread machines and some how to's on storing your bread and ingredients.

If you've got a great bread recipe or idea to beautify your table - write a post on your blog and then comment here with your post.
