How often do you say to yourself, "I never win anything?" Being honest here - that thought has go twittering through my mind - except for now. Carolina Mama just let me know that I won!
I won this and I'm pretty stinkn' excited about it!

I'm so late in getting this request for 7 Juicy Tidbits about me - cause you see, I've been kissing babies lips off lately among 50 gazillion other things.
But, in spite of my margins being full, I still love getting these requests for 'juicy tidbits from my girlfriends and Sheila over at To Love, Honor and Vacuum asked me to join in the fun.
Juicy Tidbit # 1 - I've raised dairy goats while living in North Texas and had no problem castrating my bucks. Yup, it's true. As hard as the farm life was, I loved it.
Juicy Tidbit # 2 - While Michael and I were courting (I as a single mother with two little girls) he wrote me 7 - yup girls, count them - 7 love songs. Here's a sample of his sweet music.
Juicy Tidbit # 3 - Speakin' of Michael, he wrote the song, You are My Hiding Place. It was published by Marantha Music back in the 80's.
Juicy Tidbit # 4 - I love shoes and handbags. I won't share the juicy tidbit of how many shoes I had at one time in my life - but let's just say - two words: Emelda Marco. (Just kidding.) My favorite shoes (right now are these
Juicy Tidbit # 5 - About twenty five years ago - I was a race car driver - well, sorta - just once. I actually raced in a woman's powder puff figure eight and I came in next to the last place. Was one of the craziest things I've every done.
Juicy Tidbit # 6 - While spending the summer in Germany (1971) I saw the musical Hair. Yes, there was some nudity and today I still can't believe that I saw it - but it's part of my - uh one and only hippie experience.
Juicy Tidbit # 7 - I love to travel and I love to speak to women - mainly to encourage them to become women who live life on purpose. About twelve years ago, I had the privilege of being invited to speak to the Qlosa tribe of women in an area called Willowvale in South Africa. Was an awesome experience.
For more very juicy tidbits about very fun women - visit Sheila! She's the queen of juicy and vacuuming and honoring husbands too!

Grandkids - love em. . .
Already my new year has started off running. While researching for my Food Storage Notebook and printing off my food charts, I multi-tasked with a little Twittering - a great place to network, research, get info and meet people.
There was a conversation thread going this morning among some great women - it was something about 'training' and since this life is a Training Ground for the Next - I was curious.
Turns out that Karpo (Karla) is training for a marathon and PensieveRobin (Robin) was more than impressed.
After a bit of back and forth dialog (including me bragging on my daughter who is a runner and who ran up until the day Baby Roman was born - am I proud or what) and a few more gals jumping in to the commitment - the idea of a blog was mentioned and blog wiz Robin pumped this out in - uh 2 seconds flat - Running Wild - a blog for those of us runner wanna bees who want to commit to being held accountable to each other to start running and actually run.
All the details are yet to be posted, but I'm excited. Will join us - me in making 2009 your fit year yet? If you're a runner, a wanna be please join us for the fun of running the race! Go make a comment and make a commitment!

Running the Race
It's January 1st and I love the new year because for some reason it's the opportunity to start over, make changes or try new things. Actually, every day - every new morning that same truth applies. The Bible says that God gives fresh grace every morning - "His mercies are new every morning." I love that.
I've got a few new adventures for the new year - this is one, and so far it's taken me to this, and a foodie one is my other one. Gosh, who knows what else might come my way!
Last year, Michael and I started our spring garden and we've done fairly well with our winter garden (except for the freeze last week that took out half our food - bummer! A well learned lesson to cover with frost cloth when the weather man reports that it's going to be 38 degrees!).
We also invested in some new pets. . . six hens a laying! Would you believe they LOVE attention and being held? Tis true, but I think they're a bit shy of one little granddaughter who LOVES to spend time in the 'chicken booth' - her name for the chicken coop.
So, what's my new foodie adventure? Food storage. With the state of our economy and prices of everything going up, I've been thinking that "food storage" would be a good way that I could actually be a better P31 woman with frugalness and food.
What I've Done So Far on My Food Storage Journey
It's more involved than I thought, but I'm excited to learn and grow as I go. I'll post my progress along the way.
Over the past month, I've been researching tons of random web sites on how to do the food storage thing. (Sorry, I should have saved all those sites!)
I added a "Food Storage" folder to my lap top to put all my finds in and then I printed off many of my finds - especially those that had cool little charts.
Next, I recycled a 3-ring binder (found in my garage), inserted a lot of plastic sheets, organized my 'how to' finds into categories (still in process) and then added my printed charts and how to stuff inside the plastic sheets. I'm using those plastic sheets because I'm thinking I'll be referring to these pages many times.
Today, I'm headed out to our freezer (a 7.2) to begin making my inventory list. I've dated some of my freezer food and need to add dates on the rest of the food. I want to organize the food in the freezer with older dates up on top.
Next, I hope to evaluate space in the garage for the canned goods and boxed food I've been purchasing. Then I'll work on planning my menus around what's in the freezer/shelves according to what needs to be used first.
This whole new food storage journey is FORCING me to menu plan. That means my organization, planning and margins will be having new levels of attention. I'm excited about this new discipline for 2009. I sense it'll be a year of pacing, productivity and purpose.
What's changing for you this year?
