Marriage and Men and Love and Life

I'm a die hard for marriage. I long for women to get on God's side when it comes to being a wife.

Recently I posted my personal 10 Things Husbands Want Wives to Know and tonight, I ran into another post - 10 Things Guys Wish Women Knew about Men.

I'll just give the list here. Do - check out the details posted in the list. But please don't just rush through the list...ask God to show you how you're doing in this as a wife.....
1. Men would rather feel unloved than inadequate and disrespected.
2. A man's anger is often a response to feeling disrespected by his wife.
3. Men are insecure.
4. Men feel the burden of being the provider for their family.
5. Men want more sex.
6. Sex means more than sex.
7. Men struggle with visual temptation.
8. Men enjoy romance, but doubt their skills to be romantic.
9. Men care about their wife's appearance.
10. Men want their wives to know how much they love them.

Turkey Bones are Simmering

We just about devoured a 24 pound turkey yesterday as 17 wonderful people
graced our table(s) for Thanksgiving. Awesome!

I've got the bones from our turkey on the stove....simmering, simmering, simmering and I'll making my Turkey Soup from the stock.

Sally Fallon, author of Nourishing Traditions stresses the importance of simmering the bones anywhere between 6 to 24 hours.

If you need other ideas, check out Frugal Hacks and the post entitled Leftover Turkey Recipes. Great ideas!

You Are My Hiding Place

Back in the 80's my husband, Michael, wrote You are My Hiding Place. It was produced by Maranatha Music! Today, the song is sung world wide. Yea! God.

You are My Hiding Place has been made into many different U-Tube clips. Here is one of them: You are My Hiding Place sung by Selah.

How has this song ministered to you?

I just thought all you soup lovers would want to know about one of the soup recipes I posted earlier - Autumn Harvest Soup. I made it tonight and my husband absolutely loved it. He said it was like you were eating health and it tasted good too!

So, this one is a double thumbs up!

Earlier this week I made Nigerian Red Kidney Bean Stew with a Peanut Sauce. And, it's another double thumbs up!

More Recalls for Moms to Know

This just posted by the Associated Press.

Graco Recalls SnugRide Car Seats
AP
Posted: 2007-11-20 10:08:17

EXTON, Pa. (Nov. 20) - Graco Children's Products Inc. on Tuesday announced a voluntary recall of its stand-alone SnugRide infant car seats, noting that the seat pad backing may pull away from the seams, exposing the pad filling and posing a potential choking hazard.

The recall affects some of the 304,675 SungRide seats manufactured Aug. 1, 2006 through June 30, 2007. Graco noted that the car seat is still effective as a child safety restraint.

Model numbers include: 8609FOF2, 8609FOF3, 8616FOF2, 8616FOF3, 8643DDH2, 8643DDH3, 8643CDR2, 8643DH03, 8643SUP2, 8643SUP3, 8643JOS2, 8643JOS3, 8643MDW3, 8643PWC3, 8643SFJ3, 8645FMT2, 8645FMT3, 8645GLM3, 8645GLN3, 8645HEM2, 8645HEM3, 8645MYC2, 8646SML3, 8645MYC3, 8645MRG3, 8645PKR2, 8645SNY2, 8646SND2, 8645THR2, 8645THR3, 8646FIE2, 8646FIE3, 8646GRT3 and 8646RRY3.

The model number and date of manufacture can be found on the label on the back of the car seats. These seats were sold in the U.S. at mass merchandisers, specialty retailers and department stores from August 2006 through Nov. 11, 2007.

Graco said the recall doesn't include any SnugRide models made before August 2006, as these products have a different design, and doesn't affect SnugRide models sold as a travel system.

To receive a replacement kit, which includes a replacement seat pad; consumers should call 1-800-345-4109 Monday-Friday between 8 am and 5 pm EST or visit www.gracobaby.com to determine whether their car seat may be affected and to obtain instructions on how to receive a replacement cover.

Consumers should not return the child restraint system to the retailer.

Maria's Frijoles Charros (Charro Beans)

I was talking with Maria the other day and told her about the new e-book that Anita (The Nourishing Home) and I were gathering notes to write. We want to provide moms with a simple way to prepare food - really food - not from a box - but from the bulk section AND with little $$.

Maria began to tell me about the pinto beans she prepares. As she was telling me I thought her suggestion would be good for Anita and I to add to our e-book. Sounded so yum, that I asked her to send me her recipe.

Frijoles Charros (Charro Beans)
Ingredients
Pinto Beans
Fresh Tomatoes
Fresh Onions
Fresh green chiles (or frozen - Bueno brand is very good they're from NM)

Preparation
Wash beans
Cook in crock pot with water all the way to the top (I usually cook over night or throughout the day while at work). Once they're almost done, salt to taste dice the veggies and put in the beans to cook with them for the last 1/2 hour or so enjoy!!

Sometimes right before serving I'll dice up some cheese and add it to beans and sometimes I'll add either ham, cooked chorizo, bacon, or even hot dog pieces.

Frijoles con espinacas (Beans with spinach)
Cooked Pinto Beans (can use items 1-4 above)
Add fresh spinach leaves instead of veggies as an alternate option. Heat a little bit of oil (I use olive oil for all my cooking) in sauce pan saute some minced garlic (you can even add some green onions) add some beans add spinach and enjoy! Maria
