Monday's Dinner Date with Pili and Joxun

Michael and I were invited to an afternoon 2 pm. lunch at the home of Pili and Joxun who live in Hernani. Hernani is a town and municipality located in the province of Gipuzkoa, in the autonomous community of Basque Country, northern Spain. Read the rest here.

Lunch is the big meal of the day here in Basque Country. When I say, big, I mean big. Family around the table for this meal is important.

What was so special about this time is that Pili and Joxun are not only so hospitable, but Joxun is a well known musician in the area. Michael and Joxun actually had time after the meal to play piano together. Michael played You are My Hiding Place and Joxun had a descant melody going through his head, so he joined in. I have a mini video clip available to anyone that wants to view/hear it, just email me at Lylahl@aol.com. It's worth the viewing.

This is Aitziber, Pili and Joxun's daughter.
Ana made these yummy Basque salads.

A traditional Basque salad.
Isn't this table beautiful? When you walk into the flat, you come directly into this room where this table is.

See what is served here.
